A holiday making tourist can travel the Scottish highlands from our self catering cottage located near Aviemore by car 1/2 an hour south of Inverness, 2 1/2 hours north of Edinburgh and Glasgow the nearest airport with direct UK flights to London. Aberdeen is about 3 hours by car. Activities close by include: golf, fly fishing on the river Spey for salmon, sea trout, brown trout; see the osprey, ospreys, nesting from a hide close by and go bird watching for capercaille and other rare birds, walking, climbing, the munroes in the cairngorms skiing ?, mountain, biking, learn to drive a "real" 4x4, see the whisky in the making ,use the whiskey trail, visit a castle or "two", meet the clan, clans buy a tartan skirt for her or a kilt for him. You need not be a real highlander, braveheart or rob roy, to be the local hero back home if you have been hunting nessie the loch ness monster. How about seeing our own Abernethy Highland games in August.
