Ailanbeg Cottage, Scotland in the Cairngorms National Park

Ailanbeg Lodge and Cottage
Located in the Cairngorms National Park.
250 square km of unspoilt nature.
Travel the Scottish Highlands from our self-catering cottage located near Aviemore.
We are situated in the Highlands of Scotland at the edge of the quaint rural village of Nethybridge (Inverness Shire, near Aviemore / Grantown on Spey).
Whether you are looking to escape to the country away from the hustle and bustle just to relax or wish to experience an action-packed activity holiday suitable for all the family let our cosy country retreat be yours for the week or more.
Activities close by include: golf, fly fishing on the river Spey (for salmon, sea trout and brown trout) and bird watching, including Osprey sighting (Ospreys are nesting close by at Loch Garten), Capercaille and other rare birds. Walking, hill climbing and hiking are enjoyable all year round and the Munro mountains of Scotland and the Cairngorms provide a skiing and Winter sports paradise. Mountain biking or learning to drive a "real" 4x4 give a tantalizing alternative experience of the area. Returning to the cultural roots enjoy local heritage in many museums and a must-see are the whisky distilleries and The Whisky Trail. Visit some spectacular castles, learn about Clans and buy a tartan skirt for her or a kilt for him. Between May and September the unmissable spectacle of the Highland Games are held (our own Abernethy Highland games commence on the 2nd Saturday each August).
By car we are 3/4 of an hour south of Inverness, 2 1/2 hours north of Edinburgh and Glasgow (the nearest airports with direct UK flights to London). Aberdeen is about 3 hours by car. You need not be a real highlander, Braveheart or Rob Roy, to be the local hero back home if you can return with a tale about our famous Nessie the Loch Ness Monster
